What underfloor heating?

Take this with a big pinch of salt. Laminate flooring with a good underlay* has, probably, even better insulating properties than carpet. Yes, it'll possibly FEEL colder for bare feet - like, say, glass feels colder than wood at the same temperature below 36C ( and hotter than wood at the same temperature above 36C)movilogo said:...Now I have been told that without underfloor heating it will be cold with laminated floor.* e.g.

Yup. Laminate over this low-density fibreboard underlay will be perfectly fine.grumbler said:

Correct, which also makes laminate floor a terrible idea for use with UFH in my opinion.ThisIsWeird said:(Laminate) it's an inherently well insulated material in its own right.
the flooring you want to pick for UFH is the opposite, something conductive like tiles or LVT
realistically, retrofitting wet UFH to make it efficient costs thousands and is massively disruptive.
retrofitting electric UFH is still really expensive if you put insulation in to help direct the heat up wards instead of heating the subfloor, which also creates problems with levels. and as already said it's ridiculously expensive to run

Don't expect to warm your feet on it only takes the chill out you only heat the open areas you don't heat for example beneath a sofamovilogo said:Never heard about skirting board heating before but will explore.
Typically furniture cover skirting board, so not sure how much effective it will be.
Yes, electric heating could be expensive but I think it will lot cheaper than wet heating to install. Not that I'll run it all the time, only during very cold periods.
From memory your have stick the mat down then electrian fits the cables. Then your have use self levelling compound possibly this does not apply to installing lament flooring

If I put electric UFH mats, does it need to be laid under laminate underlay or on top of underlay, just below laminated panels?Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0

Unless it's a carbon sheet it has to be set in grout. Use a 12v dog bed mat? May fail.An ir ceiling panel would be easier to install.Cut out the floor for wet just on a path to the sofa?0
