Wouldn't you pay off more by saving for now whilst the rates are better & then when your mortgage rate is going up pay some extra off as a lump sum.  Just as long as you wont be tempted to spend or as long as it doesn't lower any benefits you may need to claim.

Yes, that does make sense badmemory, I guess I'm just getting impatient to see the numbers going down.

I've listed 5 items on vinted this afternoon, nothing over £8, but it will all add up if sold. I have a few more items to list when they're dry, currently on the drying rack after the hail this morning.

I have always admired the way that you chip away at the mortgage by sending overpayments. You have inspired me to chip away where I can - thank you.

I'm not feeling good today, I'm exhausted, aching everywhere and think I'm coming down with yet another cold. I still haven't really got rid of the last one properly yet. :(  I'm also feeling quite low, but I think that's down to issues the past few days - nothing I haven't dealt with before - so I know I'll feel a bit more positive in the next day or two.

The weekend was generally rubbish and yesterday mostly consisted of dealing with overwhelming DIY issues at OH's, which felt much like bailing out a sinking ship with a teaspoon. Patience frayed from both of us. Saturday was ok until the evening when after a nice day DS suddenly decided he was in the mood to pick arguments for an hour or two. He's such a loving kid most of the time, but he knows exactly what to say to hit me where it hurts the most when he's decided he wants to be difficult. I will confess to going upstairs and having a few tears. Teenagers are exhausting. I had a nice lengthier than usual chat to my Mum last night which made me feel a bit better. I don't usually tell them the stressed of my life as they worry terribly, but it was good to chat to her a bit about everything. I just wish I could've had a Mum-hug too.  :'( After that, I had an hour in a hot bath to try and ease my aches and read some of my new (charity shop purchase) book which was lovely.

In money news, I had to fill the car up with petrol yesterday which came to just over £55. There's around £45 left in that pot for the month now. I also picked up groceries at lidl on Friday which was around £30, but I did get a free loaf of bread with the app. :)  I've since been sent a £5 off £25 voucher so I'll try and use that before it expires.
Yesterday, I was left to pick up last minute birthday treats for OH's Mum - £30 was spent there on those, some bits for my Mum for Mother's Day and some emotional-shopping of chocolate and junk food - whoops.  :s
Tea for OH and I last night was two leftover portions of a noodle dish I made for DS and I the night before. At least that was healthy and free as I already had everything in. I've taken some prawns out of the freezer for DS's tea tonight and will make something for him with those. I found a tub of pasta leftovers in the freezer too so have taken that out for me.

Someone is due to collect a free item I put on FB today, no sign of them yet though but hopefully she turns up at some point. No sales on vinted or fleabay yet either, unfortunately.

Oh dear sorry you are feeling low.  You do have lots to cope with so be kind to yourself.  The weight loss is difficult if you are an emotional eater.  The only advice I can give is make small changes and try to find a way to deal with mood swings which does not involve food.  My weight goes up and down but on the whole it is fairly stable and if I am stressed I go out for a walk first because it gets me away from the snack cupboard and secondly because the exercise and fresh air lifts my mood.

  • The mortgage is exciting! Amazing work! I understand how you feel, you suddenly think, well maybe I should just chuck everything at it! I think @badmemory has a very good idea, you could pretend it is an offset mortgage? I am sorry you are feeling low again, sending lots of feel better vibes and internet hugs!

Thank you enthusiasticsaver and Aimingforthegoodlife, good advice from both of you as always.

Today feels like a much better day already. :) DS and I had a really lovely evening last night which lifted my spirits greatly. He came home from school quite quiet and grumpy so I was envisaging a long evening,  :| but I left him alone for a bit and made a conscious effort to keep the mood light and stress free and it worked wonders. We had loads of fun playing uno (I was shocked he actually said yes to that one!) and then generally being silly together and laughing a lot.   :)<3 There was a bit of teenage moodiness before bed, but I just backed off and gave him space and didn't take it personally which is definitely the way forward.

I popped to L!dl straight after dropping DS off at school this morning as I had a £5 off a £25 spend voucher which I wanted to use up before it expired. We didn't really need a lot as I shopped before the weekend but I stocked up on some store cupboard bits and dishwasher tablets/rinse aid, conditioner/mouth wash etc that we were low on and would need to buy soon. £39 spent there after around £6 of discounts.

Today I need to post Mother's day cards to my Mum (one from me, one from DS), finalise my Will paperwork and pop it back in the solicitor's door (rather than posting - it's local enough), and I need to chase the student loan deferment as I haven't heard back from them yet and they're usually pretty quick to reply. I also need to package and post my ebay item which sold last night much to my delight. There'll be about £15 profit after postage which may have to top up the bank account rather than be sent to the savings but we'll see how it goes.

One load of washing is done already and on the line to dry as it's actually not supposed to rain today. After writing that I just looked outside to see it flippin' raining and my washing getting wet... :/

I ticked quite a bit off my list yesterday, the only thing I didn't manage to do was to get the paperwork back to the solicitors, this was intentional though as I emailed them with some queries. I did finish all of the forms though and wrote a memorandum of wishes which turned into quite an emotional exercise.

DS and I took advantage of the lovely weather last night and played football in the garden for an hour and a half when he got home from school. We had some music on, chatted and laughed - it was just lovely. I am relishing every moment like this as he gets older now.

It's sunny (but cold) again today, so I'm risking pegging another load of washing on the line as soon as it's done in the hope that it dries. I also need to post the ebay parcel I wrapped yesterday and package up two items I listed on vinted for OH which sold last night.

Another item has sold on vinted for £5 so I’ll wrap and send that off with the rest tomorrow. :)
