Thinking of you, and hoping all goes well with your Mam.  Sounds like a real palaver with your  EX.  (((hugs))) ~XX
    I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy
  • Hope everything went well with your Mum. Thinking of you.x

I found that having lots of cereal in helped to keep my boys full when they were in the teenage years. A full cake tin helped too!!

Hope that you get some time for yourself.  Single parenting is hard, especially when you get no break. My children haven’t been back to their dads since March, through their own choice, following a situation that arose then. I feel happier that they are safe with me but the flip side is that there is little time to simply  be.

Sorry to read that you have had ups and downs with the tax credit to UC transition. I don’t qualify for anything now so have been adjusting the budget so that my wages cover the childcare costs I have, that previously would have been covered with the TCs.

Love the sound of your forthcoming trips. Gives you something to look forward to.

    Thank you everyone xx
Mum's surgery was more difficult than was thought and there were complications and a few fraught days/nights. She is recovering, albeit very slowly and in a lot of pain, but we're taking a day at a time and are all very thankful she made it through.

In money news, I received the £300 COL payment today which I sent straight to the CC as I've used it to buy some Christmas gifts etc lately. I was hoping to save it, but it's that expensive time of year and I don't want a CC balance to be built up.
I have had to quit my SW group as I don't have the free time at the moment with DS here permanently, but recent events have reminded me how I need to look after myself and be around for DS more than ever, so I've transferred my membership to online only. I opted to pay for a year in advance as it worked out much, much cheaper and less than half the price of attending groups too. I'm doing well today and am feeling confident in planning ahead. A lady I met in the SW groups popped in for a coffee this morning which was lovely. There are three of us that really gelled, so I'm hoping we will keep in touch. I was also gifted some lovely flowers from a friend this week too which really cheered me up.

I've uploaded 9 listings to vinted this morning too and one has sold already. Only £3, but it's all stuff that was kindly given to me to sell to make a few extra £'s, so it's all profit. If all sold, I'll make around £30-£40 which is not to be sneezed at.

Tomorrow, I am looking at a house. I know, I know (!) but hear me out...
The house is in the same small street I lived in when DS was born and the house type is exactly the same as the one I had. I have always regretted selling up and moving from there and if I could buy 'my' house back, I would. I had the house from new and my Dad oversaw the building works so I know these houses are built well, are cheap to run and have lots of space, it's also detached and has a driveway and garage etc. The house for sale also has a new kitchen and a small conservatory has been added. My only issue is that I'm a bit unsure about the garden and the position of this house. It is for sale for around £10K more than mine is valued at and I have been told mine would sell very quickly, so is affordable and maybe doable if no-one else snaps up the other house first which is obviously a real possibility. It is also a very 'safe' purchase for me to live in for the next 10 years or so and would only go up in value.
Although I have done most of our present house up now, I have growing concerns about it regarding some flooding that occurs every so often further down the street. It is just the road that floods (sometimes covering the pavement too) not as far as any houses, but my worry is that in 5, 10 years time with the weather as it is, who knows. I also have a leaking velux window I can't seem to get fixed, no DPC in the older part of the house that is now causing issues and requires a floor to be dug out and neighbours recently (who have a large drive) have been taking the P with parking their cars on the street which means I struggle to park. There is also the road noise which bugs me currently.
I only saw this house for sale today and wasn't seriously considering moving again yet, but it won't hurt to take a look. I also need to speak to DS about it as he loves the location of this current house as he can meet his friends in the park and play football when it's lighter evenings, although a few of the friends don't live locally and get lifts from their parents to the park as DS would have to if we did move. DS will be coming with me to view it, so I'll see what he thinks tomorrow. Lots to think about.

Good news about your COL payment.

Have you been to look at the potential new house? Would your DS be able to stay at the same school?

    Thank you twiggy86 & HSL2 x

As for the house, it’s only about 2 miles away from us and I know the area well as we actually bought and lived in two houses on the street (not at the same time, obviously), but I drove down to the house earlier and there’s a big new estate being built pretty much opposite it, so have cancelled the viewing and scrapped the idea. Oh well, nothing lost.

Another three vinted items have been bought, all by the same person, so I have two parcels to pack and send off over the weekend and £16 made so far. :)
