We each chose a book we owned and enjoyed, wrapped it up and scribbled a description on the front. Then we met up and threw our books on the pile and each chose a new one based on the description.
I got to shift one of my finished books and discover one I might not have picked up otherwise.

I bought one like this at a Christmas Fair. (Fundraiser stall for a local charity.) For £1 I acquired a really interesting book that is on my “ to be read” mountain & I probably wouldn’t have noticed it in the Library or a bookshop…..
