Hello,
i bought a piece of electrical equipment from a business seller on eBay at the end of October as a present for Christmas, and it has stopped working this week. I have contacted the seller but they have ignored my message. The item was listed as opened, never used, excellent condition and working order. Am I entitled to a refund or replacement/repair seeing as it has lasted less than 6 months?

No warranty was offered, item condition just said opened never used, then the description was as new, in excellent condition and working order. When it arrived it was all in original packaging with the film on the item and worked fine. Thank you for answering0

Hello OP
As it was a business seller the goods should conform to the contract in various aspects included durability, with consideration for price and the description of the goods.
If you were to advise the price and what the item is then it's easier to give a better answer but as above you are out of time for eBay cover, if you used Paypal to pay you might be covered by them (but they generally cover goods not being as described on arrival rather than later having a problem arise) or if you paid by card you might be able to do a chargeback or if over £100 have S75 cover depending upon whether the manner in which the payment is processed via eBay qualifies for these 2 things.
For a chargeback you'd need to return the goods (possibly before starting the process), as you only get one go at a chargeback @born_again is the expert to advise on such things.
eBay might flag the chargeback as a problem, they do take the money back from the seller plus charge the seller a £16.80 fee but it probably costs eBay more than that so I don't know how eBay views buyers who perform chargebacks.
The seller's address should be on the listing, again depending upon the price, a letter in the post and small claims is an option (after trying any other avenues available). In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
What is the item and how much did it cost?
Is it a cheap disposable item or something more expensive?A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".0 -
It was £60

Opened never used is still a used item. Depending on the item and manufacturer the manufacturers warranty may not be transferable.
Have you checked the manufacturer though? Worth a look. You may find its in warranty and they will sort it or you may find it was
sold a long time ago and no longer within the warranty period.
Assume its not a regular item for the seller? Have they got a lot of them or was it a one off item?
Sadly you may have to chalk it upto experience if the seller does not play ball. Can you name the item without giving
away your identity? Maybe an easy fix.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
