Opened a barclays bank account because i wanted to put use the 5% rainy day account Opening it fine online got a email saying they had to check my ID in branch to complete my application. Barclays are shocking at this. Demand ID in branch, then close a lot of branches.

Fortunately there are other banks where the ID process is automated an online.
