This is for Android users.

With the demise of Pay+ today I have had issues verifying my payment cards on the Grocery and Clubcard app.

I have phoned Tesco and they have called me back several times.

Despite reinstalling the app, adding and removing cards several times (different banks) it was going into a waiting loop at the final stage.

During reinstallation the app asks for permission to use device location which I allowed but it does not change the setting, I keep location off to save power.

Four hours after starting all this, I thought, try it with location ON.

That solved the issue for me and both cards verified successfully.

That tap in settings may work for you too.

     Different but seemingly related teething troubles for me too.
     Get to enable card section, enter 3 digit card code, switch to banking app and verify, and then when switching back to the Tesco app, it restarts the verify card process.
     Tried with 2 cards via different banks, same issue.

     Will leave it a day or so, and hope the are sorting their gremlins out!

    I had this problem a month ago when I first tried to add my Barclaycard which was already in Pay+. Barclaycard declined it. Tried again along with a different bank debit card the other day and both worked. In the in store and online sections too. (In other words I added them both twice).

    This wasn't being declined, just getting stuck in a loop. It was a bit like apps that don't like it when you switch away, and restart the process.

    Anyway, was able to enable the cards today.

    In my case, Barclaycard did decline the original authorisation. Thankfully they authorised it this time round.

    My Santander credit card gets declined every time. I was told by Santander that Tesco use a zero amount payment for verification, and that’s the problem, Santander don’t allow zero amount payments for verification, and despite going to the Santander Banking app to OK it, and being told to go back to the application, the Tesco application say’s the bank has rejected it.
    I’ve spoken to both Tesco and Santander and yes, you guessed it, Tesco are saying it’s Santander’s problem, and Santander are saying it’s Tesco’s problem…….so for now, complete stalemate!

    It probably would, but it’s probably easier for me to just use the card as normal at the till, until such time as both parties can work it through!

    Is anyone else concerned that, to use the pay in-store feature in the new Grocery and Clubcard App, replacement for pay+, it is necessary to give permission for the app to access other files on the phone, including photos, videos and audio files?  I would have thought it necessary just to have camera and maybe location access, as required by Sainsburys Smartshop App.  I have had several conversations with Tesco, who tell me that this is necessary to "prevent fraud" and insinuating that if I don't like it, then I don't have to provide access.

    I've activated Pay+ although never used it - there's no incentive to use it over Google Pay or Apple Pay and I tend to find it a bit temperamental, whereas Google/Apple Pay tends to work every time.

    I honestly don't understand the concept anyway, it's easier to just use your card or digital wallet. 
  • After mistakenly deleting my Barclaycard from the Tesco wallet within the Grocery & Clubcard App (Android), I am unable to put the same card back in.
    It fails on the app (on 2 phones) and on the Web interface to tesco.com,
    with "Opps something went wrong, try latter" or "unable to verify" Web/ App
    Tried 3 different card (all Barclays type) with the same error.
    Bank - All seems working our end
    Tesco - No idea's yet

    Any body any thoughts ?
