Moving home/change supplier?

Hi - due to move into new place this week and deal with utilities. I'll be porting my broadband contract across. Water will likely be Severn Trent. I will find out the gas & electric supplier and send over readings. I guess I then go to a deemed contract/variable contract given the current price guarantee.
Would there be any advantage/disadvantage of switching supplier at all? I need to check if there's a smart or prepaid meter (how would this affect things?), But I don't believe there is.
I was previously with octopus in previous property, this account has been closed/paid for.
We (partner and I) were paying around £115 a month with the discount.

Deep seated hatred of Scottish Power and all who sail in her - would love to see Ofgem grow a pair and actually do something about it.1 -
Could be worth switching for a better level of service/more frequent billing depending who you end up with as your new supplier.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

I believe most people paying capped rate from government, it is best to choose one with good customer service.
BTW, ask your friends if anyone with octopus, they pay out £50 each if someone send you referral link.
Also you can decide if you want to joint octopus tracked tariff.1 -
