Hi, after quite a bit of success on eBay I'm branching out and selling some stuff I have that I believe may be suited to a different demographic so thought I'd give Depop a go, so far I've set up an account, verified my bank details and listed one item although I have a few more items to add, I've never used Depop before so does anyone have any suggestions or tips and tricks to hopefully make this go well, thanks.

Not a site I've ever had any dealings with, I was rather put off by the difficulty in accessing FAQs around costs and policies. What sort of costs are involved in selling there?

Always interested in new sites, so will follow this thread with interest.

Honestly, I wouldn't get too excited, fees are 10% on the selling price, however, they do something similar to managed payments on eBay but it takes 10 days for your payment to go into your bank, you can connect a PayPal too so you have both options, I only set the account up yesterday and Ive already had a scam message, the type with a link to click, no reply from customer services when I forwarded it but they sent me a how did we do message, I've had two likes on my item, I'll pop some more up for sale today if I have time.

Bought by Etsy in 2021 it seems  ($1.6 Billion).   Wonder if its just another AliExpress clone?

They mention having 30 million to 50 million customers which some articles said were mainly in the UK.
Seems a lot with nobody seemingly knowing who they are.  Are we in the wrong circles to have heard of them?

    Social media based?

You must be al least 13 years of age and capable of entering into a legally binding contract. oh dear....

Selling Fee is 10% cannot see the Depop Payments costs, do you need to login for that?

Oh dear it gets worse... Have you read the Buyer/Seller protection section 15.8 etc??

No, more like Vinted/Shpock from what I've seen.  Though I thought it was app-based but there is a website, so clearly I'm out of touch already   I wouldn't have heard of it if it hadn't been for my sister, who is culturally a younger generation than me.

Whenever you make a sale on Depop, you will be charged the following:

    • 10% Depop fee
    • If you are in the UK, a standard transaction fee of around 2.9% + £/€0.30 across Paypal and Depop Payments applies.

Not sure what the issue with buyer/seller protection is?  They offer PayPal as well as Stripe.
