Just married - Advise!

I got married on Monday to the greatest guy ever and have decided to take his name.

I was just wondering if anyone could help me with my question.....who do I need to tell?

Obviously, dentist, doctors, banks etc....anyone else? Do I need to change it with the council or tax office or anything? I can't think.....

I know it's not urgent really but I'd just like to get stuff out of the way if I can before going back to work in Jan, cos I'll have little or no time then.

You'll need to let the National Insurance people know so that they can re-issue your card.

    Congratulations!

You can still use your old passport, aslong as the tickets are in your maiden name

There will always be more you forgot about ;)

Just each time you get post in your maiden name, keep the letter in a special pile for people you need to inform :D

Yeah but my passport was due to run out at the beginning of Jan. So I would of had no passport. So made sense to renew before and in my NEW name!

    Thats an excellent idea Newlywed.

I need to let uni know - as I'm doing teacher training. However, I'm not in uni again until end of Jan cos I'm on placement in school and I don't live near it either. V annoying. They pay me my bursary and I'm worried if I change account name my payments won't clear anymore. Anyone know if that will happen?

Work continued to pay my monthly wages in with my maiden name for a while. The account number etc were still the same so my bank allowed it to go through. Apparently they could see on their system what my name used to be - as they also let me pay in a cheque in my maiden name after I changed the account. With the cheque they said if it was a large amount it may be different - but it was small.
