Rust on exterior of shower tray

We are looking to move to a flat to purchase. All seems fine but there is rust at the bottom of the shower tray where it meets the tiled floor. It goes all the way around the shower tray. It is on the first floor and so I do not think it is a leak as the people below would be aware of that. Could it just be condensation with age - it does not appear to be very new and there is no window in the bathroom , only an extractor fan?

Are you sure it's rust and not a red mould you can get on silicone sealant if it's not cleaned often enough?

No it looks like rust. Am going back on Wednesday with my son and will get him to check.

    Some photos would help too.

Hard to think of anything that could be rusting in a shower's construction.

Shower trays are usually made with material that does not rust even if this had a lead tray beneath it would produce a white or grey stain.
A tiled floor would normally be tiled into the show tray not underneath it so the tiles would be above the base of the tray

Are we perhaps talking about a chrome edge strip, where the chromed surface has  rusted?  Perhaps even an edge strip for the glazing, rather than the shower tray itself?

Took my son and he says it is an old shower tray that is rusting around its bottom.

Is probably just from splashed water and the floor being mopped etc...
