No eggs in Asda yesterday and sparse salad veg.
Local greengrocers are fully stocked although prices are up.
I usually get eggs from local butcher, who always seems to have them in stock. Both boxed and jumbo loose, BYOB.

The only shortage of a food item ive seen is eggs and tomatoes in short supply in the local Sainsburys, salad items were enough, fresh fruit, eggs have been a bit sparse one day but next theres more of a choice.

When there is a hint of a shortage the stockpilers rush to the supermarkets and smaller shops usually have stock for longer. During the great toilet paper shortage of 2020 my friend had no problem getting it from small local shops - including the post office.

Tesco carrots can go black overnight !
Never had a carrot go black overnight in the fridge
Bought carrots in Tesco. They were swimming in water before I got to the car on a hot day.
Though I dried them off with kitchen towel they were black the next day.

We never really know how old the fruit and veg we eat is, unless we grow it ourselves. Apples can sit in a cold store for a year, for example.

There seems to be a shortage of Perrier in cans now as well.

Normally I buy trays of 35 cans from Amazon for 19.99 or fridge packs of 10 cans from Sainsbury's when on offer. I know this isn't at all MSEr but I had an addiction to Diet Pepsi and Diet Coke and was getting through 16 a day. So fizzy water in a can is (a) healthier (b) gives me the tab pull and fizz mouth feel plus a can to hold. I don't drink as many now, either.

Getting low, tried to buy on Amazon and freaked out when the price was 42.72 and wouldn't buy them.

Yes that about sums the whole issue up.

OP stockpiling tins of tomatoes and trays of drinks won’t help the shortages

Given Costco only sells tins of tomatoes in trays of 12 it isn't really stockpiling when that is the minimum quantity.

No shortage of eggs here. It is like the magic porridge pot, use one egg for breakfast and three more appear by lunchtime. The chickens come out of the nest box clucking merrily, it sounds like, “I’ve laid an eh-egg!” New laid eggs are warm.

My OH has just come back from a big shop.  He bought 3 lots of tomatoes (I eat tons of them) and eggs.  He said Sainsbury’s had plenty of stock.
