Problematic Astra!

No - but the removal of the gearbox is labour-intensive and costly hence I wanted to find out up front what support I could get financially either through the warranty or the car dealer.Ayr_Rage said:@LeightonP72
You said this.
2 days later they confirm it is likely to be the flywheel and will have to strip out the gearbox. Then yesterday they confirmed that the clutch had gone!
Has the gearbox actually been removed to see which part has failed ?
The car is not driveable so unless the car dealer is ultra-generous and comes to pick up the car and do their repairs for me I'll have to have the job done there. The garage have backed me 100% in communications with others.0 -
Glad you’ve followed the process and the garage are on side as this will be critical to any chance of a contribution. My understanding is that DMFs have a spec for how much movement is ok and over time the movement increases until they are worn out. If this is what has happened then it won’t be covered, but if something has broken in the DMF you may have a chance, although I’m sure the warranty company will try to argue it was the result of abuse. When my clutch went on my 107 it hadn’t worn out, one of the metal straps had broken, a known issue on early 107s. Good luck1

Does the car start and run not move just run it should do if the flywheel is faulty it will sound like a bag of spanners but it should run maybe not movealso is the car a diesel i know you said it has coil packs which are on petrols but people sometimes get the name wrong the reason i ask is because the astras from 2014 onwards came with a new 1.6 cdti engine and they are well known for timing chain issues and vauxhall in the wisdom but the chain at the back of the engine to its an engine out job to replace the chain.... overall i like the astras i have has 3 nice cars a lot of car for the money“People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. We want the biggest house, fanciest car, and we don't mind paying the sky high mortgage to put up that show. We sacrifice our biggest assets our health and time, We feel happy when we see people look up to us and see how successful we are”

Given the age and milage of the car, I would say those faults are wear and tear. The supplying garage might offer a cheaper repair or contribution? The warranties on a car of that age are generally worthless.0
