Holiday in France

Looking for tips about a weeks holiday in France that is accessible via train from the UK.
We are man and wife both mid 60s looking for a nice sunny 7 day relaxing holiday .
we do not speak French apart from basic school taught phrases .
Tips recommendations welcome .Thank you .
Keep in your thoughts the poor Beasts of burden around the World and curse All who do them harm.

    When in the year are you going? That will dictate how far south you need to go for sunny. Presumably you want something coastal or do you find city breaks relaxing?

    The main stumbling block for most people is the need, most of the time, to change stations in Paris. It's not the most complicated thing to do, but with luggage in tow it's not the most comfortable experience either.

    A change in Lille is easier. Agree about seat61, great website once you get used to its dated appearance.
