Hi, a friend of mine gave me a remote controlled car but the battery is flat and the charger has been lost. This is a description of the battery unit that I need to charge:

Any ideas please on whether I need to purchase a charger specific to this battery, or if I could get by with something more generic? And also where I might be able to buy one?
Many thanks.

Confirm your actual battery says 12v 2300Mah and it NiCD on it?
And it has a Tamiya connector?
How old is the battery?0 -
Any good hobby or sports/hobby shop should be able to supply the correct one. Plenty of generic makes about too (Ripmax etc). Looks like a Tamiya / standard power connector on the link you supplied, but all the original R/C batteries were 7.2v and 8.4v... But it's a while since I've used them!!0

Hi, many thanks for the quick responses. My battery is identical to the one in the link that I attached in my original post apart from the fact that it doesn't have as much detail stamped on it (i.e. the measurements are exactly the same and it looks exactly the same). All mine has stamped on it is 12v.2300mA (5HR). Excuse my ignorance Lorian but I don't know what a Tamiya connector is! However my connector looks exactly the same as the one in your picture so I'm confident that it is! The battery is probably about three years old.0

Try this shop on eBay: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/component-shop0

Hi, excuse my ignorance again, but is the battery that I have sealed lead-acid, NiCd,or NiMh?0

The picture link you provided says "Powerful & Advanced Lead Acid Battery" on the label...
Lead acid tend to be sealed rectangular boxes, NiCads tend to be shrunk wrapped 1.2V cells with rounded edges (you can feel the cells through the wrap). NiMh would be similar to NiCads to look at.0
