I am getting inundated with spam  - often 14256 @ xxxxxxxxx.xxxx or newsletter@yyyyyyy.yyy     You have been selected, tried to deliver. McAfee expired ......

The old AOL enabled you to identify and block these but I get a message "exceeds 1000....."  The newer version had the facility under "more ... " to spam, block the emails

I don't want to loose my AOL address

Any suggestions ?

    Delete it yourself,

Pointless blocking as most of the "from" emails will be spoofed anyway.

Can you do rules eg 'if message contains mcafee then delete'

    Outlook allows this

AOL used to have good blocking options but when Yahoo took over they stopped it. I had one set to only allow known email
addresses and other AOL users but they removed that option and its quite limited now.

You can still keep AOL but use another email client and get that to block the emails. I use Thunderbird for
my old AOL emails and yes they get way more spam than any gmail ones.

That works to an extent - I can use a rule - move to blocked , then I can delete en-block
