We are going to replace 11 original 1930s Crittal windows in our two front rooms, that are freezing in winter, temperature struggles to get above 15 degrees with double glazed windows.  Like for like replacements are around £40,000, aluminium is around half the cost, but not as efficient.  We’ll never get the money back in energy savings, but having warmer rooms where you don’t get icy cold blasts from the windows when you draw back the curtains in the morning will be such a revelation.  For us, it was balance of cost versus comfort, and comfort won out.

I can’t go through another winter like the one we have just gone through.  To the OP,  if it makes your life more comfortable and you can afford it, I’d go for it
In the OP's case, it would seem as tho' it wouldn't make a significant difference as the existing windows are PVC, DG, and in good order. Certainly the outlay would take many years to recoup - from what I understand.
For me you are correct, yes the windows that are there have no obvious problems, it was more a question of If there was a big difference in performance that would make it worthwhile to change them, then I would get them done before decorating. From the replies I have had my decision confirmed and will leave them in place.

I replaced my 31 year old wooden framed double glazed windows with pvc double glazed windows and my gas dropped from 14700 to 11600 in a year (June 2021-June 2022)

Correlation, but not necessarily causation.  Too many potential variables to be certain of cause and effect.

    Agreed.
My gas consumption is down from ~8500KWh to ~4000KWh now that I have new doors & windows all round. This winter has been a little milder than the last and I've also dropped the thermostat down by 0.5°C. That said, I've turned the radiator off in the front bedroom, and it has been a comfortable 17-19°C in there for much of the time. South facing, so it benefits from solar heating when the sun is shining.

Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

To my untrained eye the frames and rubber seal look good,
With the window closed try slipping a piece of paper between the frame and rubber seal to check for gaps. If there are any the seals can normally be replaced

I have now tried that, there is no way to get paper under the seal :D
