E.ON Next have sent me another final bill
Hello,
I received an email from E.ON Next who was my initial energy supplier, in August 2022 I switched to UW.
In December 2022 - my final bill from EON was sent to me and they credited me back with some money. Before that, I had paid £62.01 - you can see the record of the bills/payments below.

I got in touch with EON Next last night and they've rebilled me as I could see the changes they were making on the account by refreshing the page, I have screenshots of the different prices that were showing.
This is the message from customer services via Twitter;
So sorry for the delay in getting back to you!
So on your 13th Sept statement the account was in debit of -£185.31 which was based on meter reads and the closing reads from your new supplier on the 23rd Aug. I've just re-billed the account from 29th July to the 23rd Aug for your actual usage which left the account to owe -£123.58 (minus the £62.01 you've already paid) towards this amount.
The system reversed some charges which left the false credit in the account which was refunded back to you (£147.48)
Due to the incorrect credit refund your account is now in debit of the £123.58 left to pay for your usage You'll be able to view this on your statement to see this
If EON made a mistake on their behalf and credited me back, do I need to pay the outstanding balance? I've got in touch with UW and asked them to confirm the readings that they sent over to E.ON to see if they match.
Is there anything else I can do or should be doing about this? It's not a mistake made by me and feels that I shouldn't pay (we all probably feel like that haha)
Thanks,
Javed

If the error were in your favour, would you be happy for them not to refund you?
They can rebill you for up to 6 years.No free lunch, and no free laptop1 -
Ah well - looks like I will have to pay the outstanding bill then and then get them to close down my account.This is what UW has come back with;
I have checked and I can see that we originally opened your Electricity account on a reading of 2630, this was later corrected to 2130.
We opened your gas account on a reading of 2564

OP - for future reference, the new supplier manages a transfer of supply (a switch). Its data collector/metering agent validates the readings that you have provided. Once validated, these readings are passed via an industry-data flow to open and close your accounts. Giving the ‘old’ supplier meter readings can confuse the switching/final billing process.1
