Late Parking Notice - worried about credit rating

Do not contact the debt collectors, they will lie to you and you are correct, they won't care. The debt collectors CAN NOT do anything, don't be fooled but what you see on TV. You are at the stage where a rogue private parking company has sent you a fake invoice which you can refuse to pay. They can not visit you to take away anything without a Court order - and you are a very long way away from that.

Please then tell us here that you have done so.2 -
Do not phone a debt collector. It will be a most unpleasant event where nothing you say will change their stance - they want your money and will be aggressive in trying to extract it from you. Ignore them, they can do nothing other than send silly letters, and they most certainly cannot take you to court.Worriedandalone said:Well things just escalated. After receiving the first letter yesterday we have just received a letter from a debt collection company demanding £170 within 7 days or they will proceed to court. There is a number to call for the debt collection agency but before I do is there any advice? I’ll obviously explain that we only received the initial notification yesterday but I feel like the debt collection company won’t care.Come back in the vanishingly unlikely event you receive anything from a firm of solicitors or a court claim via the Northampton CCBC.Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Okay thanks all. Sorry to seem like I’m panicking, the language they use on the letters is very alarming0

We’ve still got the envelope but annoyingly there is no postmark on it. We’ve got Ring doorbell footage of the letter being delivered.Send that evidence to the BPA and make a complaint about Smart Parking, asking the BPA to investigate why a letter took 2.5 months to arrive.
They might get Smart to let you appeal and give you a POPLA code. If they do, pleeeeease do NOT appeal as driver, obviously!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
