Broken wall brick: poor tradesmanship?

Hello. Got a Ring floodlight installed today and the traders have broken the brick on which they installed the mount (not saying anything to me afterwards). I understand you can drill outdoor brick without damaging it. Would this prove to be poor tradesmanship from them? Is the cam secure to the wall now? Any advice on how to proceed would be welcomed. Thanks!

    Any pictures?
  • Need a picture, but if it's just a cracked brick and the light appears secure, don't worry about it. It's not necessarily poor workmanship, the brick might have had an inherent flaw that meant it was certain to crack when drilled.

Maybe the OP can take the brick back :)

How many screws are there holding the floodlight ? If there is only two screws i would assume that they are to either side of the fitting and if that was the case they might have been bitter of drilling the joint. Is this a battery operated floodlight or hard wired?
If it was hard wired did they have to come from inside the building to get a supply.

Recently put up four hanging basket brackets on the same garden wall, each with 2 screws.

1 cracked a brick, 1 popped off a lump of spalling brick face, 2 went in without any issues…luck of the draw really.
