Not necessarily. Auto enrolment was being introduced in stages, and staging date depended on size, with the biggest employers having the earliest staging dates. The staging date for the smallest employers was 2017.SieIso said:An intriguing topic - in 2013 employers were obliged to make contributions so there must be something for you somewhere.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
Only if it was an occupational defined contribution scheme (by 2013 these were very rare - and in 2015 the law changed . Personal pensions give immediate vesting, no matter how short the service, unless the individual cancels their contract within 30 days. The law changed on 1 October 2015 to bring occupational DC schemes in line with this requirement.Brie said:Given that it was in 2013 my guess is that it was a defined contribution plan. And if you were there no more than a year or so it's possible that you might have had a full refund of your contributions so there's no nest egg (even a tiddly one) awaiting your retirement. But if you can't find anything specifically related you might want to check if it was contributing to a NEST pension as many temping/contracting employers use that rather than set up their own in house scheme. Wondering too if HMRC would have any record of where you worked (well they will do but how accessible that is I wouldn't know).
DB schemes can still refund contributions where a member has under two years' scheme membership, although the rules can permit other things.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
Nothing with them, unfortunately. I was also put in touch with Alix who oversaw the winding down of the Ben Sherman group I worked for, I think I am coming to the end of the line. Whilst any pension pot would have been modest, it seems to be lost forever.Jonty6262 said:

It is possible that the period in question had no pension scheme available and was just a hollow stakeholder pension.Cptralls said:

My memory is vague as it was from ten years ago and I wasn't with the company very long but there was something at the time, I sens the company may not have set it up, and hence why it is currently missing.dunstonh said:

That is why I think it may have been a hollow stakeholder pension. In 2001, companies were required to offer a stakeholder pension, if they had no other pension scheme available. They had to nominate a provider and make you aware of it. However, they didn't have to pay into it and because of that most employees never bothered with it.Cptralls said:
