Missing Pension

Hi All,

In 2013 I worked for a company called Ben Sherman, I have been trying to track down my pension pot from them to no avail. I have tried using the government site but the pension provider outlined has no reference of it, the pot would not be massive but should have several hundred in it. What options do I have?

Companies House shows that Ben Sherman Ltd had no employees in 2013 or 2014, which suggests you were employed by another company within the group. Do you have any paperwork which might show the full name of the employer?

Have you changed address since 2013?

Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

Given that it was in 2013 my guess is that it was a defined contribution plan.  And if you were there no more than a year or so it's possible that you might have had a full refund of your contributions so there's no nest egg (even a tiddly one) awaiting your retirement.  But if you can't find anything specifically related you might want to check if it was contributing to a NEST pension as many temping/contracting employers use that rather than set up their own in house scheme.  Wondering too if HMRC would have any record of where you worked (well they will do but how accessible that is I wouldn't know).

Schemes mean the People’s Pension and the Ben Sherman Group Ltd Group Personal Pension Plan provided through Aviva for certain employees of the Target Group Companies

Comes up in the company sale document in 2015 so maybe something to explore.

An intriguing topic - in 2013 employers were obliged to make contributions so there must be something for you somewhere.
