Hello forumites,

my wife and I are looking to buy our first property and in preparation for that we've been looking at our credit reports. While I can find my reports in all of Experian, Transunion and Clearscore (Equifax), for my wife we can only find her report on Experian. ClearScore/Equifax cannot seem to identify her, and the Transunion website also fails to identify her. Funnily enough, she can see her credit score/report in the Natwest banking app which is reportedly sourcing data from Transunion.

So, my main question/concern is whether this situation with my wife might in any way affect our mortgage application? (in the recent past we were able to obtain an AIP from Natwest, in case this makes any difference).

And the second question is how can we actually get Transunion/Equifax to identify her? She does not have a common name, we've been at the same address for 7 years and we think we're entering all her data correctly in the respective forms. Even tried some variations, but this didn't help.

Thanks!

  • Raise a dispute directly with the CRA so she can be located.

Thanks @MorningcoffeeIV, we've already raised a dispute with Transunion in early Jan and they never bothered to respond or even acknowledge our request within their self-imposed deadline. We've raised again but not holding our breath

  • Being unable to get online access doesn't mean that the CRA doesn't have a file since a thin file may not let them confirm identity online.

Try simply requesting a statutory report from each CRA. If they can't verify ID online they can still send the relevant file to a known address.

If it’s any comfort, I raised a dispute with Transunion - it took approx. 2 months for an acknowledgment and another month or so for my issue to be resolved…

Hey @newdriver101, pretty similar story here, by the looks of it...

I finally got an acknowledgement after almost 3 months, 2 emails and 1 letter. Now it will supposedly take another month or so for the investigation/resolution. Fingers crossed!
