When a property is involved and it is over 250 miles away from where the executors of the will live, can you claim accommodation costs as well as a mileage allowance

On presumption you need to visit the property (which I imagine you do) rather to sort everything out remotely I can't see why not. I and my husband did similar when acting as executors for a friend who lived in the north of Scotland (we were living in the south of England at the time). Obviously, we stayed in cheap accommodation (Premier Inn/Travelodge). Make sure you keep a clear record of your executor expenses in case it is ever needed.

In this case, you need to stay over - just keep the costs reasonable and a record of everything you spend.

Is there any reason you cannot stay in the property?
