winter travel insurance

I have become rather confused whilst trying to sort out travel insurance to cover longish trips but also to cover "winter sport".
Most annual trip policies cover a maximum of around 30 days of travel per trip...so far so clear. The policy then states that there is a maximum of, say, 17 days of winter sport included with the relevant add on. Does this mean that I can be in the ski resort for 30 days but only ski on 17 of these days?...and if I develop an illness or injure my self on the days I am not skiing am I covered if I've "used" my 17 days of skiing?...
Since I have a property in a french ski resort I spend time there during the winter, but I am not skiing every day. All very confusing

You need to read the policy wording and if its unclear then ask the provider, ideally by email/livechat or such that gives you a record of their answer.
Having looked at one random travel insurance policy I would assume it is total trip length not number of days doing winter sports if buying an annual policy,0 -
