Thank you. Ok. Here it is...
There will be another page showing what has been deducted from your tax free amount to arrive at 8830

  • Many thanks for all of your help to date. It is greatly appreciated.

I hope that this now gives the full picture. I can't find anything else that isn't already up here!
    Essentially...
My Tax Code for my previous job was 1173LX
Now it's 883TX but I was in receipt of (and contributing to) the two Pension Schemes mentioned above.
I don't understand why. Nothing has changed between the two jobs and yet HMRC are saying I'm paying the right amount of tax.

    Add up the three amounts - 1800 + 1970 + 8830 - and you get 12600. The normal personal allowance is 12570.

Add 275 for professional subs and deduct 223 for medical insurance and you get 12622 which is what you showed earlier.

The code of 1173 has been reduced by the 180 for the previous job. You need to remove the previous job.
  • Many many thanks! The tax code on todays payslip reads 833T M1 !!

Did you hand in  a P45 from your old employer to the new employer?
  • Yes I did hand in my P45.

Wouldn’t have made any difference as week1/month1 code was operated at old employer. Clearly a new code has been issued to new employer.

if the OP handed in hnis P45 why has HMRC restricted his code for his previous pay.?

Were there perhaps  two payslips for April 22 ?
