DCB legal claim form

Hello all,
I am after some advice for a parking charge notice I received back on the 06/06/2020 where I parked on private land opposite my old employers after being told by colleagues we had an agreement to use the car park. Today I received a claim form from DCB legal for a claim and amounts due to £297.88 from a £60 PCN. Can someone advise me on what to do as I know they added on their cowboy charges and ramped it up a lot and would appreciate any advice given. I’ve only got 14 days to respond for this so would need advice asap so I can get this resolved. Would be very very helpful and will need someone to break it down for me.

Have you read the newbees thread?

Rule of thumb is that DCBL will eventually discontinue providing you follow all the steps required.
  • How can I find this?

What is the Issue Date on your County Court Claim Form?

Have you filed an Acknowledgment of Service?
If so, upon what date did you do so?
Your MCOL Claim History will have the definitive answer to that.
  • The issue date is the 17/02/2023. I haven’t filled out anything yet or made any correspondence as I know DCB are cowboys essentially and just need some straight advice on what to do. What’s the MCOL?

Assume this is claim via Northampton court

    Who is the PPC ?

DCBL ARE SCAMMING YOU WITH FAKES.
    You do not owe £297.88

Please read the NEWBIES THREAD first

Have you appealed to the landowner?
Have you written to your MP?

    MCOL is MonryCalimOnLine

As everyone will say - read the newbees thread, work out the steps you need to take and then execute them as and when required - at some point DCBL will ( more than likely ) offer you a discount, then they will discontinue - we've seen this happen over 100 times since August last year.

If you follow the advice - you will not pay anything - but you MUST follow the steps as detailed in the thread.

Hello, I’ve read the newbies thread and can’t really work out what’s the next step. I haven’t made any action yet whatsoever I’ve come here first to get the best advice before going forward as I don’t want to make any mistakes. I’m just not sure what I need to do after receiving this claim form from the courts.
  • Just to clarify I haven’t made any correspondence with anyone. I’ve not written to the MP or landowners and ever tried to appeal any of the correspondence received.

With a Claim Issue Date of 17th February, you have until Wednesday 8th March to file an Acknowledgment of Service.  Do not file an Acknowledgment of Service before 22nd February, but otherwise there is nothing to be gained by delaying it.
To file an Acknowledgment of Service, follow the guidance in the Dropbox file linked from the second post in the NEWBIES thread.

Having filed an Acknowledgment of Service in a timely manner, you have until 4pm on Wednesday 22nd March 2023 to file your Defence.
That's over four weeks away. Plenty of time to produce a Defence, but please don't leave it to the last minute.
To create a Defence, and then file a Defence by email, look again at the second post on the NEWBIES thread - immediately following where you found the Acknowledgment of Service guidance.
Don't miss the deadline for filing an Acknowledgment of Service, nor that for filing a Defence.

Do not try and file a Defence via the MoneyClaimOnline website. Once an Acknowledgment of Service has been filed, the MCOL website should be treated as 'read only'.
