Travel via Edreams

A few days ago my brother booked a tickets via Edreams.

Birmingham to Dublin via Ryanair. Then Dublin to Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi to Islamabad Pakistan.

They were all connected flights so luggage will be transferred that's what I have been told.

Edreams have said Ryanair has cancelled the flight so they arranged £33 to be refunded. They said it will take 10 days. Although looking at Edreams complaints people are waiting over a year for there refund.

My brother looked at other flights from Dublin to Birmingham but only found where there is less than 2 hrs arrivals at Dublin and taking a flight to Abu Dhabi.

Other flights are like 8 hrs stay in Dublin before boarding.

That is unacceptable. If Edreams cannot provide the whole travel then they should issue whole refund not partial. My brother has spoken with them and they are saying they can't do anything as ticket has been issued.

He will try to call them again but chances are very low.

What would you advise?

Payment was made via my NatWest Credit card. Thanks

This is clearly not going to be a continuous ticket as Ryanair isnt in partnership with anyone flying to your subsequent destinations. One of the good thing of having non-continuous tickets is that you save on UK taxes the downside is that if one or the other of the airlines cancel you have no comeback on the other ticket.

Depending on where you live, widen your search to other UK airports or bring a book for the 8hr layover in Dublin.

Edreams (should read Nightmare) are a Spanish company.

For flights in many cases they do not debit you, it is the actual airline that do. So they will not be interested in cancelling the whole trip.

  • Is an eight hour wait really the end of the world?  I reckon you could spend half of that time unpicking this situation.  If you did manage to get the whole thing cancelled, there's a risk that re-booking might be more expensive.  I assume your brother still wants to travel?

    Bit in bold:
Is that exactly what eDreams told your brother?
    Verbally? Or in writing?

Lots of negative threads about eDreams on Tripadvisor.

Is this at all  relevant to the OPs situation where Ryanair who do not appear to partner with other airlines to sell connecting flights to Pakistan?
Interestingly edreams website does not seem to offer Ryanair if one selects BHX to AUH
I suspect as Pollycat does that there has been some kind of misunderstanding

But which airline does Ryanair have connections with?
    Emirates?
I'm flying to Bali via Singapore (with Singapore airlines) and my luggage will go straight through to Bali.
If I'd booked a flight from Dublin to Manchester with Ryanair so I could take those SAL flights, I wouldn't expect my luggage to be transferred from Ryanair to SAL at Manchester (which is what the OP seems to expect). Even if I'd booked via an agent.

It won't be a through ticket, despite what any agent who makes money from selling you the tickets say as Ryanair don't operate that way.

It will likely be be a 'self transfer' ticket,  awful term which means relying on whatever the agent small print says about disruption and missed connection.

From another flight search with a connection in Dublin using Ryanair from UK:

    Travel regulations may apply
During your stopover, you will need to collect and recheck any hold baggage. You may also need to go through border control and briefly enter Ireland, so you might need a visa. Please check the local travel requirements and COVID-19 regulations for all stops on your itinerary

    Ok.
My understanding was that if you were transferring onto another international flight your baggage automatically was transferred for you. So you did not have to wait to collect & then check in again. 🤷‍♀️
