Problem with Wireless Connection

Firstly please don't shout as I have looked through the wireless section.
I have a linksys router that until yesterday was working fine for two desktops and a laptop. Now I know Virgin have had some problems recently and thought they may have been the cause.
Anyway the laptop was coming up with limited or no connectivity so I decided I'd try and reset the whole shooting match. Funny thing is after resetting the router I still can't connect through the laptop or remote desktop but when I list available networks it displays a list of neighbours wireless networks and two of mine. It's displaying what was my old network name and my new one. Can only access the internet through the main desktop.
Anyone got any ideas.

Ok so your main computer is connected with a wire? and that works correctly yes?
The Limited Connectivity message signals that you couldn't get an IP Address from the Virgin Media Router. Several reasons:
1) Wireless Authentication Failed. You won't get an error message, except limited connectivity. So try turning wireless authentication off (until you get it to work). Once its working, turn it back on again and make sure you have the details right. (Its VERY unsafe to leave it off all the time, but for testing, its fine)
2) You have a Static IP assigned. How was your laptop set up originally? Is it possible someone manually pre-set an IP Address? This would be done on the network adapter properties.
3) You have a firewall blocking DHCP. This is the MOST common problem. Applications like zonealarm and Norton by default block connection to wireless routers. So make sure these are both disabled.
It will be one of them
Good luck. [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

When you say reset, did you actually press the reset button? If so the router will be back to factory defaults and the wireless encryption will need setting up again. A better option would have been to just power cycle the modem and router. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I'll try resetting the router for 30 seconds tonight. Last night it when I searched for wireless connections the old name and the new name of the same router were being displayed but I couldn't connect to either.0

Little point resetting it again, you need to configure it, and tell your pc the encryption key and type
wire it up with ethernet, then go here:

Cheers Albatross but that's what I did last night and somehow ended up with two wireless connections being available.0
