No I’m not in the same position in that example. Buyer pays £15 plus £4 postage. I refund £19 but I’ve paid £4 postage to packlink. So I’m out £4. However as already been stated by @tightauldgit I do get the postage cost back.soolin said:
No, as you get back what you received, see my example.GrubbyGirl_2 said:
So I'm out the cost of postage? I've refunded the full amount including postage, but I have had to pay for the postage. That doesn't seem fair!soolin said:
You should get back the full amount you refunded, the postage will have been included in that so it isn't paid as a separate amount.GrubbyGirl_2 said:Yodel have conformed they can't find the parcel. I have refunded the buyer and I've contacted Packlink. Now will wait to see how long it takes them. I presume I will get back what I refunded plus the amount I paid for postage?
IE item cost £15 postage £4 you refund £19 and get £19 back .
That does of course assume you sent an allowable item insured for the correct amount.
Buyer pays £19 made up of £15 for the item and £4 for postage. You get £15 for the item and use the £4 for postage . You refund £19 and get back £19.
You are therefore in exactly the same position as before and have lost nothing.0 -
You cannot get more back than buyer paid for. Think about it a different way , you got £19, out of the £19 buyer sent you have had to pay £4 postage, so if parcel hadn’t been lost you would have £15 in your pocket. So you will get that £15 back plus the £4 postage, so the full £19 that buyer paid you.GrubbyGirl_2 said:

This ignores fees etc, but I’m trying to keep this as simple as possible. You will get back the exact amount that buyer sent you, and the amount you refunded (which are the the same) , you will not get more back than you originally received.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. You spent £4 to post the item. You have £15 in your pocket
You refund £19
You receive £19 from courier (provided they pay out)
You still have the £15 in your pocket.
