Would be a no from me

it does depend what your other options are though OP?
We’ve not seen anything else that we really like but at the same time we are not in a hurry to buy. This particular house is at the very top of our budget but has had a two storey side extension making it a fair bit larger than other houses we have seen that are perhaps only £20k cheaper.

For us, the biggest consideration is a decent garden. We looked at one house where the house and area were lovely but the garden was only 12ft long on one end and 24ft on the other end (a kind of wedge shape), so ruled that one out due to that.

The one thing that you cant change about a house is the location. Do not under estimate the importance of the area where you live.

That said a touring caravan on someone's land really wouldn't put me off. But we do have a motorhome parked on the driveway!

I wouldn't judge the place just by a single google foto. I am not sure you have much control over the neighbours either - they can always move for whatever reason and the new ones might turn out to be somewhat problematic.

We have actually driven to the house a couple of times and the Google photo is pretty accurate. The road is a fair bit clearer mid-week while people are at work but is very tight at the weekend.

Unfortunately, we’ve all but ruled this house out - especially after being told the seller won’t consider an offer unless it’s above asking price.

Thanks. I am still trying to decide if it bothers me enough to stop me offering on the house in question. Here’s a streetview and Google earth* screenshot. The Google earth screenshot is more what it was like when we drove over on Sunday.

*the cars aren’t bashed up, I just can’t get google earth to show them any better quality than the image attached.

Out of interest why? What about those photos puts you off?

Click on 2D, and change the setting if it keeps returning, The 3D version is a useless joke.

The lack of parking is a problem, Council bollards, and just a cramped street.  The is a dropped curb for the parking on the grass so its not going anywhere
  • Parking is one of the things I would look at these days, not just how easily I could park on my own drive but if I had visitors who needed to park. If the street was jam packed in the evenings and people were parked up to the driveway, it would probably be a no from me.

When we first bought, the location was not something we really considered other than the overall area. Where we live, the side access to our house is across a shared drive with three garages. The other side of this is a house who seem to think they don't need a rear fence, they just don't have one and when on our driveway to the side, you can see into the rear of their house while they are cooking dinner! Its not the end of the world and my wifes granparents (who owned the house before us), called them the low lives so I can only assume the lack of fence is part of a wider issue but they haven't bothered us yet so at the moment, their lack of fence is none of my business.
  • Late to the game, but I think, if you're asking a bunch of strangers if you should buy a specific house, don't buy it.  You've clearly got reservations, and a gut instinct about it, I wouldn't ignore those.

The littering is v annoying and I could not put up with it if this were forever home. I can make my house as nice as I like but i simply cant change neighbors ….

For me it is a temporary home and long-term investment, therefore I am still happy with, but next time i buy a probably then forever home: definitely not in a street which seems untidy, littered, rowdy, unloved, it’s a daily annoyance which you cant change yourself ….

Yes you can, get out there with a litterpicker and some bags. That's what thousands of us do across the country. Be the change you want to see.
Somehow I doubt it will lead to change. More likely the residents will silently thank you for cleaning up their environment and hope you keep doing it for free.

It's the British way. If you don't own it, you probably don't care.

The British way is actually "If you don't own it the owner will probably tell you it's none of your business".
