Aviva equivalent of VG FTSE Global All Cap?

Hello

I am turning 40 at the end of this year and my current pot is £40k, I am on track to get full gov pension. I have started saving for pension pretty late and most of the time just bare minimum. A while ago I have changed it and now I am paying in total 20% a month (50/50 me and employer), I earn £60k a year.

I am with Aviva and their current forecast for my pension pot is £500k,whilst it may seem high for some, it wouldnt allow me to sustain the lifestyle I would like for myself or my family so I am looking for way to increase it.

An obvious choice would be to increase contribution but in the current climate I cant afford it, also I reached max of what my employer would contribute anyway, altough I am fully aware it would be beneficial to me anyway due to tax etc

So the only other way I can think of increasing my pot is to go with more aggresvie fund. I am looking for equivalent of Vanguard FTSE Global All Cap or HSBC FTSE All World Index Fund, so ultimetely good global tracker. I may be doing something wrong but cant find that as an option, and also would this be best choice for me in my circumstanes?

I am currently with Aviva on Aviva Pensions My Future Focus Growth S2  with annual fund charge 0.35%. The growth rate seems to be pretty low especially with that fund charge, hence I am looking into changing this.

Be careful with the forecasts you receive from your pension provider. They give you pretty pessimistic figures, mainly because the regulator forces them to do this. Putting your figures into a pension calculator gives me a pension pot of £690k when you are 68. That is £690k in today's money, taking inflation into account.

Also, if you're looking at your pension's performance in the last year then performance is expected to be pretty poor. Stock markets as a whole have done badly in this timeframe.

Regarding what fund to move to, your workplace pension will only give you a limited number of funds to invest in. My workplace pension is also with Aviva and I do not have the option to invest in a global tracker.

What you can do is move some of the money to a SIPP (not all of it, as this will probably close your workplace pension) and invest in whatever fund you want. Or at least whatever fund the SIPP provider provides.

It probably depends what policy you have with Aviva.

One of my pensions is with Aviva and there are only about 133 fund options available - I cut and pasted them into a spreadsheet so I could search more easily.

If you look for "Tracker" or "Index" you may fund some worth investigating further - for example on mine there are ones like
    AV Blackrock UK Equity
AV Blackrock Global Equity Index Tracker.

You'd then need to go into the fact sheets to investigate further.

Also - you say you are on track for "full gov pension" meaning you already have a DB pension and you are looking to supplement it with an Aviva pension?  If so you could transfer it to Vanguard or another SIPP that offers Vanguard funds if that's what you really want.

Just to clarify when I say 'full gov pension'  I meant full State Pension, currently £185/week. I seem to have some Blackrock funds available so will have a further look.

Aviva do not issue forecasts.  They issue projections that use a range of assumptions.    Those assumptions may or may not be realistic (most tend to be pessimistic and assume joint annuity is being purchased)

The easiest way to change the projections is to use different assumptions that are more favourable ;)

Forget the growth rate on projections.  That is the growth rate before charges and a reduction for inflation.   Its not the real growth rate.

From memory, the Series 2 range was the old stakeholder pension range for Norwich Union.  They had trackers on that range.  Some workplace pensions also have the Series 6 range available as well, which was the PPP range and much wider than the stakeholder.

However, as we don't know your product version and fund range, we cannot tell what you have available.

I seem to have below funds available to choose from under Global Equities section. Assuming I am reading this correctly Aviva Pensions Global Equity S2 seems to be the closest match to HSBC FTSE All World Index Fund or Vanguard FTSE Global All.

Altough having said that there doesnt seem to be much difference in performance between my current fund and the above, so I am not too sure if it is worth the hassle of changing unless I am misreading data?
