Octopus had different tariffs in the past, but i cant see those anymore. How can somebody switch to a different tariff in octopus right now? Is that option removed?

You can see the tariffs they currently offer here: https://octopus.energy/tariffs/Do not hit the 'Quote' button, just enter your post code at the foot of the page (if it says 'no tariffs found' log out of your Octopus account and try again)Right now though there are not a lot of options which is why the ability to change tariff through your account is not there. There are no fixed tariffs available and there is now a waiting list for things like the Tracker tariffs, so unless you are looking for one of the other beta tariffs which have requirements like owning an EV, or an Air-sourced heat pump etc. then there isn't much to switch to right now.

thanks. related to this, there is a tariff where you pay the cost of the wholesale market i guess, but i have not seen that anywhere. Is this a better option right now? i think the price of gas and electricity has gone down a lot, but the energy firms are selling it at a more expensive price0

That's the tracker tariff. Six month waiting list to join it.

And it now requires a smart meter. Have a look at Agile:javixeneize said:thanks. related to this, there is a tariff where you pay the cost of the wholesale market i guess, but i have not seen that anywhere. Octopus is a good energy supplier but its communications need less ‘power and love’, and more clarity. I received an email this morning telling me that if I did nothing, my Tracker gas tariff would renew for a further 12 months until the 6th April 2023.
The email has a link to allow me to see all available Octopus tariffs but it doesn’t include Tracker Gas!CS could offer no clarity save for the fact that Tracker Gas is a non smart/smart tariff (which changed last week) and the Gas cap is now £1/kWh!0 -
The spot price has certainly gone down a lot, but the forward price, which is what retailers buy about 98% of their demand on, is still much higher than a year ago. Wholesale gas is about 300% higher than a year ago, and this determines the market rate for electricity.javixeneize said:thanks. related to this, there is a tariff where you pay the cost of the wholesale market i guess, but i have not seen that anywhere. If retailers sold it to you at the wholesale cost, then they would be selling it to you at a loss, after fixed costs and transmission cost.No free lunch, and no free laptop

so, is it worth to join the agile octopus tariff? i know it is risky, and there are 6 months waiting list but, in terms of saving money, has anybody compared for the 2 first months of the year what is the difference between both?0

I don't think Agile has a waiting list, only Tracker - probably because it was picked up by a deal/voucher site, so now they really have to make extra sure that every single person asking to switch to Tracker actually understands what they're signing up for.javixeneize said:so, is it worth to join the agile octopus tariff? i know it is risky, and there are 6 months waiting list but, in terms of saving money, has anybody compared for the 2 first months of the year what is the difference between both?
Whether Agile will work for you depends on whether you can shift significant usage to cheaper parts of the day.0
