I also have one of the little toffee hammers - my MinL worked at the Blue-Bird Toffee Factory many years ago and she used to give us lots of the toffees she bought from the factory shop.I've looked up the Blue-Bird toffee, it wasn't the brand we had even though the wee hammer is the same. I suspect it was a local manufacturer. My favourite was the brazil nut toffee but hated the sharp edges which the smashing made. My plan to out to get some mineral oil has been rejected as the weather is now horrible outside. It's been much worse than Storm Otto was.Nan - I think I've cracked a couple of ribs, perhaps they're fractured though I'm not in agony, just pain! As there's no treatment for such injuries I've not bothered the NHS, just trying to not cough. An almighty and unexpected sneeze last night made me jump.Coxy - well done on the loss and being so self-controlled.Carolbee - I hope that you can finish off the decorating soon.Rosy - your low carb rolls and seed crackers sound delicious.Izzy - don't run yourself ragged!I've done my weekly banking and been sitting de-bobbling my winter lambswool jumper. It's a soothing job if a tad monotonous.

Morning all. Been busy and playing computer games so haven't posted. And crocheting and unravelling [several times!] a blanket my friend bought me to make. I'm not giving up yet though. I have a slow puncture on my car so I've been ringing round to find a mobile tyre fitter, thankfully found one to come tomorrow. I don't want to drive it in case it just goes !!!!!! - who knew that p o o f was a banned word?. I spent some time going through the garage yesterday and there are a fair few bits to go to the tip. Had to cancel and rebook for that too since I was supposed to be going tomorrow. I will still put it in the car later on though, I don't want it to get soaking wet. More and bigger tablets resulted from visit to heart blokey, no excercise but walking allowed and as I asked on purpose, gardening is fine too but no heavy stuff. Lucky I do no dig really. Oops, just went down the rabbit hole of birthday presents, there are ten in March so being prepared for a change. FOund soem really cool wooden puzzle music boxes, not cheap though. Did a chicken in the remoska yesterday, omg, so tender it literally fell apart when I picked it up. Legs and stuff left, so that's today, then boil the carcass for soup with beans. My week is mapped out already with one thing or another every day.Izzy, good luck, sounds horrendous. Gers, ahh...the ubiquitous toffee hammer, a staple in the drawer for people of a certain age. We had [and probably have still] severa. Alng with the grapefruit spoon , the pastry roller - coincedentally, I found a tiny wooden one in the garage yesterday along with some square scone cutters [now in the dishwasher]. Get well soon! camelot, good luck with the eye stuff finding. Ruby, well done on the walk. Coxy, sounds like a lovely weekend
Nanny, enjoy a no pan day
Hey to the missing, take care all...

Gers the toffee that I buy every xmas is made by Walkers, one for Mr Fix It and one for Dad. I daren't eat it as I'm afraid I'll lose my fillings and I need all the teeth that I have left intact 😂 I cracked some ribs coughing once and only found out via the GP when I went for some antibiotics for the cough, it can be very painful if you catch yourself wrong. Rest up as much as you can and de-bobbling a jumper sounds such a therapeutic thing to do as long as it doesn't involve much pulling about.
taff take heed of the no heavy lifting of stuff rule please. No more shifting of logs lumberjack style etc and keep taking the tablets as the saying goes. I need to see that you're ok for the foreseeable future my lovely friend x
Take care
