It's important that the statement from someone who knows you is focused around the PIP activities.
Comments on shopping, housework, etc aren't really relevant.

Ideally they will briefly confirm the help you need / aids you use / for the PIP activities (and not write anything that contradicts the rest of the form).

Could you not explain the conditions and symptoms and then for subsequent answers use “the symptoms mean….and then describe how they effect that activity.

Hi all, hope you are well. I would appreciate some advice. I cannot walk 20m before stopping due to severe pain and discomfort. Should I state on the form how far exactly I can walk before stopping? 18m is the furthest I can walk before having to stop. I got my brother to measure it. Or is simply ticking the cannot walk 20m box sufficient? Many thanks for your help.
Hi can anyone offer any advice to the original question I asked when I started this topic? Many thanks.

Tick the box can not walk 20m.
Then use the box below  giving full details of why you can not walk 20m

You don't have to say 18m as it doesn't matter, all that matters is you can't walk 20m.

  • Thanks HSB. You've been a great help.

  • Also Joe in regards to your name.
If you do feel wobbly then you must say that on the form.
So not only that you get severe pain and discomfort, but you feel unsteady and unsafe if trying to walk 20m
