Emergency Lighting during power outage

Hi
Our insurance team has recommended installing emergency lights in all 5 floors of our stairwell. This is in response to a fire 2 years ago.
Any product you could recommend which would come on and stay on for about 30mins or so.Ideally wall or ceiling attached (not hanging type).
Many Thanks

Emergency lights come on upon failure of the local lighting circuit(s) (or always illuminated if maintained). These can be incorporated into other luminaires or can be dedicated emergency luminaires.
30 minutes sounds unrealistic. Normally the requirement would be 3 hours or in some circumstances 1 hour.
This needs to be designed, installed and verified to BS 5266 taking into account the relevant fire risk assessment.0 -
Emergency light fitting should be bread and butter work to any electrician that deals with commercial premises and there are hundreds of designs.
Expect to replace batteries every 5 years or so…0 -
You need the correct information to design it though, e.g. the relevant FRA. It's a safety service after all.Jonboy_1984 said:Emergency light fitting should be bread and butter work to any electrician that deals with commercial premises and there are hundreds of designs.

Expect to replace batteries every 5 years or so…Thanks for the input. But instead of centralised battery supply(and additional cables) wouldnt there be standalone units with built in battery or so utilising existing power cables?

You haven't said where the stairwell is, private home, communal hallway, offices etc? As above, check legal requirements for the property before changing the lighting.
