Nationwide App DC confirmation

Just used Nationwide Debit Card confirmation of online order in my Android App. Easy operation, selected notification>confirm>input code>complete; excelent. NatWest/RBS and Halifax could learn from their simple method..
Praise to Nationwide

Me too. I’m hoping this signals the end of the card reader with Nationwide.EDIT
apologies to posters who prefer card reader or don’t like mobile phones.0 -
It's not that I don't like mobile phones it's just that the mobile signal at my home is terrible, hence why I'm happy with a card reader. I realise I'm in a minority on this but I'd be rather miffed if the banks that use them decided to discontinue their use.2

There's a real risk they will though - will discontinue card readers. So worth planning for.kaMelo said:It's not that I don't like mobile phones it's just that the mobile signal at my home is terrible, hence why I'm happy with a card reader. Re mobile signal being poor banking apps on phones largely use internet so don't need actual phone signal - they just need a wifi connection - assuming you have wifi.
And when a phone signal is needed there are other ways to connect - have you looked into the option of 'wi-fi calling', which can make and receive calls and texts via your wifi?0 -
I'll happily use a card reader any day. Screw mobile phones!

Indeed, you could switch to a bank that does authentication via the app, or the next time you upgrade your phone choose a phone and network that supports wifi calling.

I don't recall having to enter a code when authorising a DC payment using NW's app..Message that the transaction needs authorising using NW app. (or card reader), notification from NW, log into the app., "Is it you?", "Yes", back to merchant to complete payment. Android.0
