Soundproofing

How easy is it to soundproof a room or a small section of a room? I live in a flat and would love to be able to work in a quiet part of my flat. I can hear my neighbour tv/ music all day very loudly

Soundproofing is a complex task, and can be very expensive. Airbourne noise can be reduced with a combination of insulation and heavy (acoustic) plasterboard. Impact noise and sounds being transmitted via the structure of the building involves installing isolation barriers and a bunch of other works. Even then, there is no guarantee that the perceived noise levels will drop to a point that you are happy with.
Should also point out that some, if not all the work could well require consent from the freeholder.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.
  • I feel your pain OP, but alas moving would probably be the best bet as sound proofing is unlikely to work and be very expensive to boot.
