Travel Insurance where 1 person is paying for most of the holiday

Options
Is there anyway of booking Travel Insurance for myself on my own to fully cover the cost of the Villa which I am paying for entirely? My son & his family who live in Switzerland & will insure separately & so will my daughter & family who live in the U.K.
My usual firm Staysure, have said that if I had to cancel the holiday, even though I have paid for the total cost myself, because there are 6 more people going using their own annual travel insurances, it would be calculated & only refunded on the number of people going, so I would only get a 7th of the refund?
Have I understood this correctly, is there anyway around this?

Had to cancel due to Covid a short holiday last September for myself & a friend both insured under same policy, I’d booked 2 double rooms with single occupancy for us each. But because Booking.com in the cancellation had listed the rooms as doubles, Staysure divided the occupancy by 4 & would only give half of the value. It took ages to get through to them & the language skills & understanding of their advisers was very poor. It took a number of phone calls, none of which were satisfactory, I eventually got through to someone who said they understood & said they would amend the refund, & I’m still waiting!!! Hence the desire to try & protect the much larger expenditure!

No, that's how travel insurance in the UK works... the traveller is insured not the payer so each traveller needs insurance and then, in theory, sign over their compensation to the payer (if that's the agreement).

You could buy a Group travel policy but may struggle to include the non-UK resident members especially as they live in the EEA (more Brexit fun)

The other party members would need to claim for their share from their own insurance but they need to make sure that they are covered for another person  they are travelling with being unable to go on holiday.

You being ill/unable to go  would not necessarily stop the others still going on holiday.

Similarly, you need to check if you are covered if you wanted to  cancel because one of the other members was unable to go.
