Next furniture sales

Does anyone have experience of buying furniture in the Next sales?

I've seen an armchair I'd like in my local store today. I asked if they had a sale coming up, and they said probably the middle of March, but the armchair I'm interested in won't be in the sale. They said that their sale only has ex-display items.

I'm not averse to an ex-display item, but doubt if they would have the particular variant and colour I want.

If you've bought any furniture in the Next sale over the past few years I'd be interested to know if it was just ex-display, or whether you could order the colour, model etc that you wanted.

Next sales are frantic.  It's been a good while since I purchased but the big ones are summer and january.  I've never waited for something to be in the sale though.  Back in the very, very old days as a catalogue customer you'd get a huge list of exactly what was coming up in the sale as a preview, you'd check the catalogue, get a timed slot and you'd frantically type out the item numbers you wanted before others could bag it.

We have an outdoor patio set that has sat outside for 11 years now and it's still in good condition!

    I feel old now.
