Morning all, the wind has passed here but it's still mizzling and I have woken up with a headache. I'm sure it will pass soon. Today I have the pleasure of wood varnishing as Mr Fix It has made 2 sort of plinths, one for either side of the fireplace to hide the old brick ones that are there. Bet we'll have to re-varnish the fireplace that he made a couple of years ago too, just so it all matches up 🤨
In other news Joan has passed away, she was 97 and led a full life up until about 90 when her mind started to deteriorate. Sadly I can't go the funeral next week though as it's family only. We also have new neighbours this week in Joan's house, a couple about 60ish, a son(I think) and 2 little dogs, a sausage dog and a tiny Yorkie. We haven't met them in person yet I've just seen them through the window. They are very quiet and I hope they stay for more than the 6 months while they look for another house to buy as their last one fell through at the last minute.
Today is the anniversary of the passing of my lovely Mum, 9 years on and she's always in my heart. I'll raise a cup of tea to her as like me she wasn't much of an alcohol lover. I shall speak to Dad later too, he still misses her terribly.
Hope all the poorlies get better soon and the painkillers help.
Take care all and stay safe.

Nan - enjoy the wonderful memories of your lovely Mum. These never fade.Scarlet - yes, sciatica is difficult to treat with painkillers, sorry he's in such pain.TA - are you scalped now? It's always a relief to have a haircut.Camelot - have a gentle final sick day, you deserve the rest.Coxy - a good night always helps, hope that you continue to feel better.Iris - I rarely have plans!Rosy - my fingers are crossed for a good result from your OH's xray.DP1 - it's good to know the reasons why you feel so rotten. What a good employer you have.Ruby - more wonderful memories to reflect on, I hope that your DM is coping. My M&S delivery has arrived, much earlier than I expected, and I've cleared out the cutlery drawer insert, given it a good wash and now waiting for it to dry and refill with the new items. There's more stuff to go to a CS - three tin openers etc. I've found my GGM's wooden spoons which I think I will need to let go now. My DM used them every day and they are very worn, worn down by love. The love remains longer than the spoons.9

Hi everyone,
It's our last day at home before we go off to Pembrokeshire. L and B are going today and breaking the journey halfway, it's a long trek with little ones. Unfortunately Steve's sister has tested positive for covid so she can no longer come, were just hoping her son and his family will still be able to come otherwise Laura will be devastated, she had very high hopes for the week but things seem to be going pear shaped one way and another.
I've got some cinnamon buns proving and have made the veggie flapjacks I didn't have time for yesterday. I made a mistake in some of the ingredient quantities but Esben still seems to like them so that's ok. This one is a Joe Wicks recipe for toddlers.
Nanny and Redruby, I hope the happy memories outweigh the sadness. Dad died eleven years ago this Wednesday.
DP1, fingers crossed you recover before too long.9 -
