Instagram comps

Hi all you lovely people in comp land, I have recently returned to comping after a break of 3 years, (life got in the way, you know how it is) and since my return I've notice so many more competitions seem to be on Instagram. I have an instagram account which I opened for comping 4 or so years ago, but i don't know many people on there, so when is says tag a friend, as most do, I just forget that comp. I was wondering if anyone on here would allow me to become an instagram friend so I can tag them in the instagram comps, I would obviously recipreciate, thanks alls and I look forward to hearing from anyone who can help.

If you are on facebook then maybe join some comping groups where people share their details. There is a post on the Lucky Learners group where you could add your name. Welcome back

Hi, i can't help with the original query, but i wondered if anyone could give a brief rundown of how to use Insta for comping. My worry has always been that i wouldn't know if i won. And i never really know if I've entered properly.

To Enter Insta comps -
If it says 'Like' - tap the Heart symbol to make it go red.
If it says 'Follow Us' - look at the person's profile and tap the blue Follow button.
If it says 'Tag' - leave a message in the Comments section with a friend's Instagram name (starts with @ symbol)

To know if you've won -
Keep an eye on your 'Notifications' and 'DM's' (Direct Messages).  The comps I have won have contacted me through DM.  I think they can sometimes just announce your Insta name on one of their posts, but again, as long as they have used the @ symbol, it will come up in your Notifications, so you'll find out through that.

BE VERY WARY -  Loads of Scammers target competitions.  They will also contact you through a DM.  So if anyone contacts you, always check their Instagram name very carefully.  It will usually be almost identical to the genuine one, but often will have an extra full stop, or hyphen, etc.

It's the sharing I can't do - any tips?

@Moneybot You're welcome.  I was helped when I first started and didn't understand things, so just paying it forward!

I don't do Sharing, 'cos I use my account for art stuff and I don't want it filled up with comping stuff.  But what they want you to do is share their post to your 'Stories' so they get even more likes, etc. -

Under their post (or next to it, depending on what equipment you're using) - look for the paper airplane symbol.  Tap this, and one of the things that comes up is  "Add post to your Story".  Then I think you're given the option of whether to share your Story with everyone, or to select people.  Personally I just avoid comps that want me to share!
