I had a claim re a no-fault accident. I gave full details to my insurance company (Lloyds Bank), but I'm now being asked for details directly by their underwriters, Covea. To me, this seems wrong: my contract was with Lloyds, not them. Their contract is with Lloyds, not me. Surely, if they're investigating for themselves, they need to get the information from Lloyds: they have no contractual grounds to be talking to me.

Just give Covea the information they need. If you dont deal with Covea your claim wont progress1

Lloyds Bank Car Insurance = white label of Budget (insurance brokers)
Your contract of insurance is jointly with Budget as the broker and Covea the insurance company (aka underwriter). Lloyds Bank is not an insurance company and nor is Budget.
Budget get 10% (if they're lucky), Lloyds will get c£35 for lending their brand to Budget and Covea get the rest of the monies.
Any claims paid to you are paid exclusively from Covea's pocket
You can refuse to deal with your insurance company (Covea) but wont have any grounds for complaint when they decline the claim.
Old fashioned principles is not to call Lloyds Bank nor Budget an insurance company2
