Digested everything said in posts in day (thanks for all) and decided to get it done this time and maybe book gas engineer earlier in advance next year on day when am off work. Peace of mind.

Then the gas engineer that fixed and serviced my gas fire 6 months ago got back in text this evening and will try and do it late afternoon next week for £60.

"Key parts of every service are gas safety; combustion chamber cleaning and flue gas testing." Dolor 2023

Fair enough. Whatever gives you peace of mind.

Yes sorry, as Green Hornet says, WB is often used as a shorthand for Worcester Bosch. Perhaps I should avoid assuming it would be understood.

Are they actually going to SERVICE it or just CHECK it?

A service would require a strip down of the boiler, the burner assembly and access to the heat exchanger to check for build up of debris.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Just as an aside we had a valiant boiler in our previous house. The valiant engineer that came out to service and provide certification stripped the whole boiler down like a mechano set put it all back together over two cups of tea and very long chats and that was £99. That was what I call a service. Nice set of dirty fingerprints left on the boiler cupboard door for good measure.

I presume service as i told engineer it was to protect warranty of new boiler. And he called it a service. Says online on some sites that a service takes about half hour.

Maybe Mstty maths earlier not too bad as over 10 years could have equaled 10 days off work and times 10 service cost.
