New washing machine & hard wiring - warranty still hold?

Hi my handyman has told me that if I hard-wire my new washing machine in to an electrical point, cutting the 3pin plug off in the process, my manufacturer’s warranty might be invalid. He says this is because removing the plug takes away fused protection.
I was believing new electrical appliances must be hard wired to comply with electrical regulations.
Anyone got the correct stance here? Thanks.
Ps I cannot find any reference to this in the Samsung warranty which I’m buying via Ao.

You are mistaken. Only in bathrooms (certain areas).

Your handyman is not to be trusted if he doesn't know that an FCU has a fuse in it. It's still got fused protection, but whether cutting off a sealed plug breaches the warranty is something that only the manufacturer could tell you.
What makes you think that white goods must be hard wired? Why would they come with fitted plugs if that were the case?

    Hi OP

Never mid invalidating the warranty unles the manual says you can. What happen when it breaks down and they do break down?

    Thanks

You could change the fcu for a socket and plug your washer into that, no need to cut the plug off then

Which is what I would do (use a good quality socket). So much easier to pull the appliance out for what ever reason.

Only problem is if its under a work top you the have the lead coming up through it and you would have to cut the plug of anyway.

i think their could be a warranty issue and as the house had fused sockets instead of plugs this would suggest to me that it is a requirement.

    GOOG Morning.

Thank you for contacting Bosch Customer Service and the warranty will not be invalidated as long as the plug is changed by a qualified electrician.

    Good Morning,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your enquiry about changing a moulded plug.
Yes you can take the plug off without invalidating the warrenty, as long as it is connected by a qualified electrician.

    Samsung

Thank you for your email. Your customer reference number is ******.

This is to acknowledge that we have received your email. In reference to your query, kindly be advised that the designs of our products are made based on market preferences and have undergone series of tests before it is being decided by our Samsung design team and engineers. Thus, changing/altering parts of the unit will automatically void its warrant
  • you could argue that you aren't changing/altering any parts on the Samsung, you are simply replacing a 13A fuse in plug with a 13A fuse in a Fused Connection unit. seems like an automated response to me anyway.
But as already stated socket an plug arrangements are much more convenient so don't risk invalidating the warranty just plug it in, if you don't currently have a socket in the right place for it then get one installed by an electrician

IF the FCU is above, just fix the socket under and connect it to the FCU with a piece of cable. As simple as that.

This is how ours are done. A row of neat switches on the wall, and still access available to the plugs by pulling out appliances if needed.
