Open University experiences?

Options
Last post about the OU on search was in 2016 so think that's long enough for a new one as things move on.

I'm looking at doing an MSc, it would need to be part time, in my own time and by distance learning as I have a full time job, which living alone and with no alternate sources of income I need to keep.  What I'm interested in understanding is how it works in practical terms if anyone has experience of studying with them.  If a (30 credit) module starts in October, will I need to work at a fixed pace though it or is it fixed start and end dates and as long as I finish the module in time it's OK?  Or something else?  Reason for asking is I have a health condition which limits me and some weeks are worse than others, meaning some weeks simply doing my job is all I can do, so the greater the amount of fixed deadlines the lower the possibility of meeting them all.

Supplementary question is how accurate the quoted 16-18 hours a week for part time study really is.
