Hotel Booking cancelled

Hi,
I had a hotel booked in LA at the end of march for a week through Agoda.
I booked the hotel with the balance due at the end of March. Agoda emailed me last night to say the hotel have been in touch to say they cannot accommodate my booking, and my booking is cancelled
The hotel is still being advertised on Agoda and other sites for the same dates at a higher price (mainly due to Wrestlemania being on in LA on those dates)
All hotels in Downtown LA are now well out of my price range, and any cheap ones will end up costing a lot in taxis.
I have already got travel insurance. Is there anything that I could do here? Agoda are saying they cannot do anything

Sounds like the hotelier has decided he might be able to get a better rate given the period now seems to be in high demand.
Agoda is just a booking platform and will be following the instructions of the hotelier.
Your travel insurance is unlikely to be an avenue to solve this.
In your shoes I would;
- call the unnamed hotel, ask to speak to the reservation manager and seek an explanation.
- if a chain hotel, be prepared to escalate to corporate, perhaps via their social media channels.
- plan ahead. Plan A seek resolution from the hotel. Plan B start searching for next best alternative.0 -
Can you leave a review of the hotel? Warn others and maybe encourage the hotel to do the right thing.0
