Hi all,

Can anyone explain to me how the government refund works? I have been receiving my money into my bank account from the government but when i look at my bill it is showing 67 being charged to the account, making it look like a neutral payment, im wondering if i just dont understand it at all

Thanks

    hi elantan.

you need to look at the detail of your bill (where it lists the amount per fuel and vat)

ovo are giving you the 67 refund from your dd but are ALSO taking 67 from your bill.

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.

    Hi Ariana,

Thanks for the reply, I am still paying the 273 a month, they still take that out, then the next day 67 gets put into my account, however, on my bill they charge 67 which is effectively neutralising the government money, I've checked my bill and asked my oh to look at it as well and like me he is confused also

here's a shot from our bill (don't know if you can take the same shot from yours?)

you can see we pay in 100 then get 67 refunded. you can ignore that as there just giving you your own money back.

but you can ALSO see in the summary of charges they ALSO take 67 from our bill.

so the amount we actually pay for our energy (total charges) is 67 less than it should be. that's the discount from the goverment.

yes. thats the same problem - the person there needs to scroll down and look at the 'charges' part of the bill, not just the summary at the top.

The LHS shows what you owe - in this case £26.07

The RHS shows how your balance changes  - in this case £100 in (DD) and £67 refund out and £26.07 charges meaning a change in balance of £100-£67-£26.07
