Ignoring the temptation to join the conversation about the merits of big butts >:), I'd observe that this is a gardening forum. Perhaps Slinky knows enough already about DPCs, gullies and what not to put down the sink?  o:)
My only comment is with regard to the Verbena bonariensis, which is a great see-through plant giving height, but don't let it seed in a situation like that, unless you want literally dozens coming up next year! Goodness knows how it stayed undiscovered so long!

Thanks Dusty, I think I'm done with the drains etc.

Surprisingly enough, we struggle to propagate our verbena here. Our previous home they'd come up all over the place. We bought a couple with us when we moved 5 years ago, but I have had to actively go looking for the seedlings here!

That's good. They're one of the few plants which can compete with grasses in the wildlife areas here. We can't use yellow rattle to slow the grasses down, in case it spreads to the hayfields. In the garden, hundreds come up in the paths. The answer must lie in the soil!

I've had a similar experience - in our old garden, they wouldn't self seed at all - but here, I have several self seeded ones which I'll be potting up when they're big enough and then replanting where I want them, assuming our cat doesn't dig them out first!  Maybe the ones in the old garden were sterile, but they were ones I'd started from seed, I think I still have the seed packet somewhere...

The verbena we have here are the offspring of the ones we brought with us from our previous house so shouldn't be any different to how they used to grow there. Mind you, we had lots of them there and only brought a few with us which have gradually increased, so maybe its just a numbers game.
