Boiler with a mind of its own !

now the boiler wont ignitew at all though the system runs ( hear water being pumped) it seems to be louder than usual :-s A little more info on my setup I have a storage tank in the loft an emergen heater on the landing and a boiler in the kitchen. Apparently I should be able to get hot water from the emergen and CH from the boiler but i'm not getting wither. I'd greatly appreciate any help this really could not have come at a worse time for me. (not to sound like a victim or anything!)

I just don't m the boiler but I can't get either. I'd really appreciate some help as i'm at my wits end and simply cannot afford a plumber my son has just come down with some bug and the christmass lights hasve gone bust - oh the joys of christmas
know what to do my boilers always been tempermental to the point where last year I had to pay british gas to mend it. This winter however the boiler sems to have developed a personality of its own! If I turn the hot water or central heating on it will sometimes come on - sometimes take half an hour - sometimes not come on at all - Everything sounds like its running (water pumping) but theres no flame so it wont heat ?!

Please please help if you have any advice if I haveto pay out for the boiler again ontop of christmass I just don't know what i'll do

In my case - it was the Fan Assembly - running intermittently and finally not at all - as of an hour ago - mine now works AOK - see the 242EH thread for more details.

Thanks for your help but I don't even know where the fan would be my setup seems a little strange I have a tank in the loft a boiler on the landing (which is where the controls are located) and in the kitchen I have a unit which is the thing thats failing to ignite - my limited knowlodge is now VERY evident !

Very difficult to work out what might be wrong with no detail what so ever.
So to start... What make boiler ( eg Potterton, but that in itself is not much help so if you could narrow it a bit by a model or number that would be good)

Just to clarify, you have a hot water cylinder, and in it, is an immersion heater this will heat the water by electricity (if it's switched on)
Unless you mean the immersion is the cylinder.This could be fun!

hi the narkings from the boiler have long gone but I seem to remember it was a leco ?

I have been doing plumbing and heating for quite a few years now , but that name means nothing.
This is the internet. Without pictures this is going absolutely no where.

sorry i really don't have any way of knowing what make the boiler is i guess it must be something to do with the ignition so i'll have a little look later - I've got nothing to lose, failing that im just going to have to buy a couple of extra duvets and brave the winter. Lifes a kick in the teeth sometimes
